Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed optimism on Sunday morning ahead of his trip to Washington, stating that by collaborating closely with President Trump, Israel can “further expand the circle of peace” and usher in a “wonderful era” of prosperity, security, and peace—an outcome previously unimaginable.
Netanyahu is scheduled to meet with Trump on Tuesday, and they are expected to discuss “critical issues ahead of us,” including the defeat of Hamas, the return of all the hostages, and the Iranian axis.
Netanyahu also noted that he would review with Trump the decisions made during the war, which, alongside the bravery of the IDF soldiers, have already altered the Middle East. He is confident that working with Trump, they can bring about even greater positive change.
The Prime Minister’s entourage includes Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer, Netanyahu’s political advisor Ofir Falk, head of the dept. of prisoners of war and missing persons, Brigadier General (res.) Gal Hirsch, and Acting Director General of the Prime Minister’s Office Drorit Steinmetz. Also coming: media personality Carolyn Glick who has just been appointed to the post of public relations officer in the Prime Minister’s Office. Glick ran on Naftali Bennett and Ayelet Shaked’s New Right list for the Knesset.
Another part of the entourage includes a cardiologist and a urologist from Hadassah Hospital.
Before to Wing of Zion plane to Washington, Netanyahu said: “I’m leaving for a very important meeting with President Trump in Washington. The fact that this would be President Trump’s first meeting with a foreign leader since his inauguration is telling.
“I think it’s a testimony to the strength of the Israeli-American alliance. It’s also a testimony to the strength of our personal friendship. That friendship and that cooperation has already yielded important results for Israel and the Middle East, including the historic Abraham Accords that President Trump led and which brought four historic peace treaties between Israel and its Arab neighbors.
“In this meeting, we’ll deal with important issues, critical issues facing Israel and our region: Victory over Hamas, achieving the release of all our hostages, and dealing with the Iranian terror axis in all its components – an axis that threatens the peace of Israel, the Middle East, and the entire world.
“The decisions we made in the war have already changed the face of the Middle East. Our decisions and the courage of our soldiers have redrawn the map. But I believe that by working closely with President Trump, we can redraw it even further and for the better. I believe that we can strengthen security, broaden the circle of peace, and achieve a remarkable era of peace through strength.”
