Secretary of State John Kerry speaks with Hossein Fereydoun, brother of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, and Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif.

President Trump took a swipe at former Secretary of State John Kerry on Monday.

Kerry was back in the news on Saturday, after it came to light that he had been holding secret meetings with Iranian Foreign Minister Javed Zarif in an attempt to advise him how to salvage the Iran Deal (JCPOA) from President Trump’s upcoming decision to either nix it or fix it on May 12th. Kerry has also been quietly meeting with German, French and EU leaders to influence them too.

Some have been calling Kerry’s actions “shadow diplomacy,” while Alan Dershowitz and Rudy Giuliani are saying that Kerry is in violation of the Logan Act.

Trump tweeted: “The United States does not need John Kerry’s possibly illegal Shadow Diplomacy on the very badly negotiated Iran Deal. He was the one that created this MESS in the first place!”
