Most recently, archeologists have claimed to find the stamp of King Chizkiyahu in Givat Haofel, an area more commonly known as The City of David. “The stamp, which has a symbol used by the pharaohs in its upper corner, could not have belonged to Chizkiyahu,” explains Rabbi Asore. “The righteous king would never have put an idolatrous symbol on his stamp. The claim is being made simply to further strengthen the erroneous belief that the City of David is in the valley… a strategic impossibility. Who would build a fort in a valley? Certainly, the City of David would have been built high on Mount Zion,” says Rabbi Asore.
