Sen. Rubio ‘Shadowing Obama,’ Flies to Israel

Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio, increasingly sounding like a candidate for the 2016 presidential campaign, flew on Saturday to Jordan and Israel for a previously unannounced six-day trip as a member of the Senate Intelligence and Foreign Relations Committee.

Rubio took the limelight as a possible GOP candidate in 2016 last week by being chosen to respond to President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address.

The Atlantic Wire reported Saturday, “Marco Rubio has to shadow everything the President does these days…. Watch for this point-counterpoint between Rubio and Obama to continue for a long, long time.”

Rubio’s schedule includes meetings with Jordan’s King Abdullah, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, President Shimon Peres and Palestinian Authority leaders Mahmoud Abbas and Salam Fayaad on “various areas of mutual interest, including the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.”

In his announcement of the trip, Sen. Rubio invoked the usual reference to America’s friendship with Israel, which he said “is a truly special one.” He added, “We must continue to do all we can to support this beacon of democracy, religious freedom and free enterprise in the heart of an unstable region.”

The National Jewish Democratic Council blasted Sen. Rubio for not mentioning Israel in his rebuttal to President Obama’s speech.

“Speaking on behalf of the Republican Party, Senator Marco Rubio neglected to even say one word in support of Israel or our nation’s efforts to stop Iran’s nuclear weapons program,” said Aaron Keyak, the Council’s executive director.

  3. Rubio, bragged about being able to attend college due to obtaining govt collegevloan of $100,000 which he just paid off, however, now he is VOTING AGAINST govt student loans for this generation. Hyprocriote dontu thonk?

  4. No I don't and I will take Rubio over anyone that is in our current admin. And I don't know where you got your information. I have been following Rubio for a while and remember him telling how his family came to America but don't remember him say any thing about his college loan.

Helen, you need to know that back in July 2012 he said he owed over $100,000 and sometime around the party of stupid convention it was said he owed about $160,000. If now in Feb 2013 he said he finally paid it off, how in the heck did he do that? He is not that rich to have been able to pay somewhere between $100,000 and $160,000 in that short a period of time! It would be very interesting to know how he "found" the money and who might have lost it!

Janice Schindler He admitted lying when he told stories about his parents coming to the United States. He was never poor, he tells people he still lives in the middle class neighborhood as he always did. How many middle class neighborhoods do you know have houses valued at $675,000 which is what his house is valued at?
You may think you know all about this man, but do you really know about him or only know what you want to know? Ask yourself why he went to school on student loans which he admits were totaled at between $100,000 and $250,000 and in July of 2012 he said he owed over $100,000 and during the party of stupid's convention I heard he actually owed $165,000. And in Feb 2013 he said he finally paid off his loans. Since he says he is not rich I would like to know (and so should you,) just how he faound the money to pay off this large sum in such a short period of time and who may have lost the money that he found!
