Hickenlooper, a Democrat, was elected Governor of the State of Colorado in 2011, after serving as mayor of Denver since 2003. A professional geologist, the governor was engaged in the oil industry until the mid-eighties, then left to establish a brewery and restaurant, and in 2003 was elected by a large majority to serve as the mayor of Denver, based largely upon his image as a successful business executive.

As mayor, he executed a program of financial reform and enjoyed the reputation of an effective executive.

It’s being rumored that Hickenlooper is thinking about throwing his hat in the presidential ring following his term as governor.
