6:25 Mursi is in the lead with 52.3 per cent of the total 21,560,639 ballots cast nationwide, according to our preliminary count. This includes all governorates save Cairo.

But at 5:20 AM, Yasser Makarim, Candidate Ahmed Shafiq’s campaign manager, released an exclusive statement on private television channel ONTV that the campaign’s latest figures show their man in the lead with 51 percent of the vote while Mursi took 49 percent.
