Bat Mitzvah Club is designed for Jewish girls as they approach their bat mitzvah birthday. A Jewish girl’s bat mitzvah birthday reflects a major turning point in her life. The club emphasizes that a bat mitzvah is a process, not a self-contained event that transpires in one day.

The Chabad South of Broward Bat Mitzvah Club is designed for girls from eleven through thirteen. The goal is to challenge and stimulate members, encourage the girls to learn more about this unique time in their lives, and help them gain new perspectives on their positions as females, as adults, and as Jews.’

Bat Mitzvah Club meetings are every other Wednesday evening, 5:30-7:15, at Chabad of South Broward Headquarters (1295 E. Hallandale Beach Blvd.).

Members enjoy a combination of learning and fun through regular meetings, special programs and hands-on activities and projects.

These girls will face the future as committed, knowledgeable and confident Jewish women who are proud of their unique identities. In May the girls of the club with their families had a beautiful elegant bat mitzvah party. Each bat mitzvah celebrant said a d’var Torah.

Mrs. Dassy Tennenhaus runs the successful Bat Mitzvah Club in South Broward. A main assistant is Sheva Tennenhaus, who introduced each bat mitzvah girl, highlighting her virtues and growth in Yiddishkeit.

If you have any questions, comments or ideas on enrolling bat mitzvah girls in the 2013-2014 Bat Mitzvah Club, contact Rabbi Levi at 954 558-7005. The program is geared toward the unaffiliated Jewish Community. For more information, log on to chabadsouthbroward.com.
