We are happy to note that the Shabbos Project, sponsored by Aish International’s Project Inspire, is scheduled for this Shabbos, October 23-24. The goal is to mobilize hundreds of thousands of  Jews worldwide to simultaneously observe a traditional Shabbos featuring prayers and meals. Last year nearly a million people in 465 cities and 64 countries took part.

In addition to the performance of halachically-prescribed rituals and observances, the program calls for ancillary activities such as pre-Shabbos challah bakes and post-Shabbos Havdalah concerts.

While the primary objective of the Shabbos Project is to expose participants to the various aspects of Shabbos and its centrality to Jewish peoplehood, coordinators are also mindful of the power of Shabbos to transform people’s everyday lives.
