If President Bush succeeds in making the Palestinians realize that their real enemy is not Israel and that the U.S. and Israel are prepared to help them achieve their goal of statehood, he will have succeeded in the Middle East. He will have sown the seeds of peace. But if the Palestinians cannot be made to see what is obvious to the rest of the free and democratic world, they will never have peace.

We don’t, as yet, know what the final words to the Bush Swan Song will be. So let’s just sing the song we do know: Happy anniversary to Israel, happy anniversary to you.
