Spelling bee champion Jack Benveniste-Plitt

Jack Benveniste-Plitt won the 75th annual Miami Herald Spelling Bee for Miami-Dade and Monroe County middle school students. The competition was held on March 11 at Jungle Island in Miami. The RASG Hebrew Academy eighth-grader is now headed for the national competition in Washington, D.C., in May.

Jack was awarded a blue and gold first-place trophy, appropriately topped off with a golden bee. He also won a Kindle, a dictionary, a VIP tour of Jungle Island, and complimentary tickets for two to the competition in Washington.
