As we noted last week, a pro-Palestinian website urged a mass protest of an opinion piece by Jackie Mason and Raoul Felder that appeared in the Jan. 31 issue of The Jewish Press.

All Mason and Felder had suggested in their article was that perhaps it was time for Israel to consider mass expulsion of Palestinians as a practical means of dealing with the unending terrorist attacks against Israeli civilians. That was enough, however, to send the anti-Israel brigade scurrying to their computers to type out their vicious little e-mails as instructed by their puppeteers at The Electronic Intifada.

For a representative sampling of what we received, please turn to this week’s Letters to the Editor section. In this column, though, we’ll focus on two individuals whose letters the Monitor found particular interesting – almost as much for who wrote them as for what they contained.

First, the text of a charming e-mail sent by one Alan Cabal (no location given): “Having viewed the atrocious genocidal editorial authored under the byline of Jackie Mason and Raoul Felder, I can only warn you in the strictest terms that the vast majority of Americans are so sick of Israeli manipulation of our country that we may soon find ourselves caught in a spasm of anti-Jewish sentiment that will make the Nazis look dainty by comparison.

“If and when that happens, I assure you that I, personally and at no small risk to my own person, will see to it that the righteous Jews here in the U.S.A. are protected. I am by no
means pleased with the idea of this scenario, but you in Israel are deliberately endangering the Jews of the world with your atrocious chauvinism and racism. I will do nothing to protect
you Zionists. You are an aberration and a blasphemy against an otherwise noble faith. God damn you.”

Since there happens to be an Alan Cabal whose byline has appeared atop some memorably anti-Israel writing in the freebie tabloid New York Press, the Monitor immediately
dispatched an e-mail asking whether this was that Alan Cabal. “Indeed it is,” he responded.

And then there was this letter from Rhonda Neugebauer: “Running an article by so-called celebrated comic Jackie Mason was a bad choice, given that he insists on relocating all
Arabs and supports the ethnic cleansing of Israel. What if someone advocated that now for all Jews, would you not denounce it?”

Ms. Neugebauer, it happens, is a librarian at the University of California at Riverside who leads friendly missions to Cuba and routinely signs petitions harshly critical of the U.S.
and Israel. In short, she is one of those radical activists whose enthusiasms have made the American Library Association into such an irredeemably leftist stronghold.

Responding to the particulars of her letter, the Monitor wrote back: “If Jews in a particular Arab country were sending out wave after wave of suicide bombers, and teaching in their
schools and synagogues that Jews who kill Arab women and children will go to Heaven, and Jewish leaders were telling their people in Hebrew and Yiddish that they were engaged in
Holy War against the Arab infidels – how unreasonable would it be for some Arabs to start thinking of mass expulsion of Jews?”

Her reply to the Monitor was a poorly written tirade that fairly shouted an arrogance almost equal to the woman’s obvious ignorance:

“Are you arguing with me? I do not have the time nor inclination to correct your racist, bigoted thinking. That you would send me this note shows that your publication is oriented toward one point of view, with absolutely no desire to see things as they really are (i.e. being REALITY BASED). Please remember that it is Israel that occupied the PALESTINIANS? land and has been killing them day after day after day….

“Big, tough, bullying Israel kills unarmed Palestinians (children and families alike) with a massive arsenal provided by big, tough, bullying United States that wants an empire in
the Middle East to pacify and control all the Arabs.

“Don’t write me again with your lies, deceit and unwilling ness to look at reality! And you call yourself  Jewish Press.” Why not call yourself Zionist, Arab-hating babykiller press….?
