After reading so many anti-Israel and anti-Semitic comments/articles over the past many months, one would think that there is little left that can be said that can be considered shocking. Most of the articles, tweets, posts, etc by now fall into the category of “been there, done that.”
And just when you thought you had seen and read it all, along comes Dr. Marsha Levine. As can be seen here , Dr Levine told a 13-year-old Israeli girl she would answer her questions about horses when there is peace in Palestine. In a follow up interview with THE JEWISH CHRONICLE ONLINE, she claimed “the Jews have become the Nazis”.
Seems that Dr Levine is an expert on horses, with more than 40 years of experience in her field. A 13-year-old girl from Israel, Shachar Rabinovitch, wrote to her for advice and information. Rather than replying to this inquisitive child, the opportunity was taken to give her a different lesson: That even if you have a doctorate and be a former professor at Cambridge, and even if you appear to be smart, you can still proffer the most foolish, misguided and morally bankrupt statements possible.
In the mind of this academic, the way the Jews treat the “Palestinians” is like the Nazis treated the Jews. Let us leave out all of the obvious rhetoric that can be used at this point and merely see how that adds up.
THE NAZIS: Took babies and tossed them in the air with the goal of killing them by impaling them on their guns’ bayonet. They put hundreds of people in a cement-walled room, sealed it off and dropped in Zyklon-B gas that murdered those inside. The Nazis put bodies of Jews into an oven and burned their bodies but near the end of the war they threw them in alive (rachamana litzlan!) to save time. The Nazis tortured Jews; performed experiments on their bodies; physically and emotionally crushed them. In order to perfect their killing machines, they began by gassing patients in mental hospitals with carbon monoxide. The Nazis created what would become known as “The Final Solution.” This was the plan to exterminate the Jewish race from the face of the Earth.
And what about Israel? What have they been doing for the “Palestinians”?
- Every single day, about 550 truckloads of goods, carrying everything from foodstuffs to vehicles, pass into Gaza from Israel.
- Israel is currently investing approximately USD 10 million to further expand the capacity of its border crossings, from 800 to 1,000 trucks a day, to meet potential growth in demand.
- Since October 2014, nearly 6 million tons of industrial goods (mainly textile and furniture) and agricultural produce (including fish) were exported from Gaza via Israel, and marketed to Judea and Samaria, to Israel and abroad.
- And, from the UN itself in a report about the 2014 Operation Protective Edge, they stated:“Our overall findings are that during Operation Protective Edge last summer, in the air, on the ground and at sea, Israel not only met a reasonable international standard of observance of the laws of armed conflict, but in many cases significantly exceeded that standard,” the report concludes. “We saw clear evidence of this from the upper to the lower levels of command.””A measure of the seriousness with which Israel took its moral duties and its responsibilities under the laws of armed conflict is that in some cases Israel’s scrupulous adherence to the laws of war cost Israeli soldiers’ and civilians’ lives.”
So, Dr Levine, perhaps you want to re-think your vile attack on the Jewish State and perhaps you should re-think your reply to this young lady. Perhaps you can write to her and explain that your ideas were patently wrong and you wish to apologize not only to her but to the entire Jewish State and the Jewish People. Then, maybe you can also consider answering the young lady’s question about horses.
