Perhaps one of the most important leadership lessons comes from the paragraph “V’hi She’amda.” In this short paragraph we recount how in each generation our enemies rise up against us with the intention of destroying us, whether this destruction is spiritual or physical. Yet each time their plans are foiled due to Hashem’s intervention. It is this assurance, that Hashem is always there, that keeps us going as a people. In other words, our national resilience is a function of our belief in Hashem’s eternal guarantee of our existence. While this resilience is important on a national level, it is no less important on an individual level. Only a leader who is optimistic about the future and believes that tomorrow can be better than today will have the requisite resiliency to bounce back, learn from setbacks and continue to lead his followers forward.

May we merit through our good deeds, love of our fellow people, and unwavering belief in Hakadosh Baruch Hu the speedy arrival of the Mashiach ben David, the leader we have been waiting for so patiently for two thousand years.
