A Poor Prime Minister?

I was very surprised to read Elliot Resnick write in his “Straight Talk” column last week that Netanyahu has the blood of the four recently-killed Israelis on his hands.

Netanyahu is much more than a great orator, as Resnick put it. He is the best prime minister for Israel at this time. He has brought untold opportunities to Israel for future growth and has saved lives too numerous to count.

Last week, Iran was seen moving ballistic missiles, which is why Mike Pompeo cut short his Berlin trip. Hezbollah was on the verge of escalating the rocket attacks in the thousands. And there were many other factors that are unknown to us.

Would Resnick have rather seen Gantz win the Israeli elections and form a coalition with the Arab parties?

It is very easy to judge from the comfort of New York. It is very easy to call for an all-out war when you believe the time is right, from the comfort of your living room chair. I trust Netanyahu to make that decision at the right time and, with the help and guidance of the Almighty, he will be successful.

Measles – Jews Are Being Targeted

Thank you, Yaakov Kornreich, for your article relating to measles in the health supplement. The anti-Semitism surrounding this topic is appalling. There is no question that Jews are being targeted here in the United States.

I was disappointed, though, that towards the end of the article Kornreich seems to take sides and advocate that everyone get the measles vaccine. Allowing the government to mix into our religious business is very dangerous. What will be next? Bris milah? Mikveh? They will always be able to find rabbis to support their agenda if they want to.

We must stand united against any legislation that would end religious exemptions for vaccines.

Aliyah, Anyone?

Thank you so much for publishing Tzvi Fishman’s interview with Rabbi Dov Lior last week about aliyah.

The rabbi was spot on when he said, “It is even more important to make aliyah now that anti-Semitism is increasing all over the world. Even in America, there is an upsurge of antagonism toward the Jews.”

Remarkably, aliyah – one of the most obvious responses to anti-Semitic violence – has been almost completely absent from the dialogue in the aftermath of the Chabad of Poway shooting.

American Jews wonder why Jews in Paris and London don’t move to Israel with the dangers they face. Shouldn’t we, then, be at least talking about aliyah in wake of the attacks in Pittsburgh and Poway?

Not All Speech Should Be Allowed

Thanks for your wonderful editorial on the anti-Semitism legislation unanimously passed by Florida’s state representatives. I now realize there is hope of defeating anti-Semitism. Hopefully, it will happen during my lifetime (I am 92).

Some may denounce the legislation on First Amendment grounds, but I would remind them that the First Amendment was not intended to allow people to shout “Fire!” in a crowded theater. There are reasonable limits on free speech.

Nadler: An Utter Disgrace

The Mueller Report – after two years, $30 million, and countless subpoenas – vindicated President Trump on collusion and obstruction charges. But Congressman Jerry Nadler, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, refuses to stop hounding the president.

He seems just as obsessed with removing Trump from office as Captain Ahab was with pursuing his white whale. He is a modern-day Senator Joseph McCarthy. If so, though, where is our Joseph Welch to say to Nadler, “Have you no sense of decency?”

It is time for Nadler and the rest of the Democrats to accept the results of the 2016 presidential election. The attempted silent coup to overthrow Trump by deep state operatives in Obama’s Justice Department and FBI has finally been defeated. The Democrats must start doing their jobs and stop harassing the president, his family, and his associates.

As former President Barack Obama said, “Elections have consequences.”

Falafel Fund

Thank you to all the contributions of Jewish Press readers which allowed us to sponsor a meal of falafel, French fries, and drinks for over 30 fine, large Jewish families before Pesach. You are all truly wonderful, and made many, Jews happy. Thank you.

Never Again?

It is very disheartening to see classical anti-Semitism once again exploding around the world, including right here in America – less than 75 years after the Holocaust.

I am of an older generation that witnessed or experienced vicious anti-Semitism in Poland, Russia, France, Germany, and Arab lands. Even in the United States, Jews faced discrimination, restrictions, and quotas.

The signs of reawakened anti-Semitism are all around us in plain sight, but once again American Jews refuse to see the obvious. Anti-Semites strike in France, anti-Semitic oratory is heard in the British government, Arab forces pledge to destroy Israel, and the UN singles out Israel for condemnation.

The United States, once a glorious haven for Jews, is today deeply divided with an active BDS movement and a toxic campus atmosphere. Half the population is represented by the Democratic Party, which has turned far-left and has vocal anti-Semitic representatives in Congress.

Yidden, the signs are all there. We ignored them or were too cowed to do anything about them until it was too late last time. Hopefully, this time, with the model of a strong Israel to guide us, we will act wiser. We need to possess willpower and remove our self-imposed blinders.

Thank Your Waiter

In these difficult economic times, it’s important to patronize your favorite restaurants and honor the employees who make them a success. Why not join me in celebrating National Waiter and Waitress Day on May 21?

There are several ways to say thank you: Tell the servers, cooks, and owners how much you appreciate the excellent food and service. Drop off a box of candy or cookies. Tip 20 – or even 25 – percent.

Remember, the people who work at your favorite restaurant are your neighbors. They work long hours for little pay and count on tips.

Misinformation and Lies

I think it’s great that you raised awareness on your website of the crucial work of evangelical leader Laurie Cardozo-Moore. Laurie has reported that Congresswoman Omar is being groomed by CAIR for the expressed purpose of civilization jihad.

It’s as bad as it sounds. Unless elected officials like Omar are exposed and opposed, Jews will find themselves constantly under attack, fighting terrorist lies, slander, disinformation, and BDS in the halls of Congress.

Lies have already seeped into our schools where students are now taught falsehoods about Israel. Meanwhile, anti-Israel Middle Eastern departments in universities have sprung up across this country, funded by Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

Americans were once taught the wholesome Judeo-Christian values of America’s Founding Fathers. Now they’re being fed a new progressive “religion” called Social Justice along with misinformation on Islam thanks to “taqiyya” – a Muslim religious dispensation to fool the naive and trusting.
