The Deceitful Mainstream Media Is Dying

Re: Jonathan Braun’s “The Media Word Games That Whitewash Terrorism” (July 11):

It has been a long-standing media practice to outrageously whitewash and downplay Israeli and antisemitic news stories. Some outlets do not bother verifying facts at all and actually go so far as to falsify the circumstances surrounding events they are reporting on. Often, passive phrases such as “four people have died” versus “four civilians were murdered” are utilized to downplay the heinous nature of a terrorist attack. News organizations continually and consistently convey news regarding Israel with a negative slant regarding that country.

Woke ideology appears to be partially to blame with Israel being portrayed as an oppressing entity even though it is legitimately and morally responding to existential attacks on its population. Sadly, outright antisemitic attitudes are also behind these skewed and malevolent practices.

Love him or hate him, but President Trump was correct to coin the term fake news. Recent polling reflected that a significant 36% of the public do not trust mainstream media reporting, while only 31% have any faith in obtaining their news from that source. The remaining 33% have either no opinion or middle-of-the-road attitudes. This does not bode well for the news industry, nor the consumers of their propaganda.

This prevalent bias when it comes to Israel shows no sign of letting up and has created a very dangerous environment in universities and the public forum at large. Where it can be shown that false and skewed reporting resulted in injury or, G-d forbid, death, they must be held to account.

Thank you, Mr. Braun, for writing about this crucial topic that most of us are already aware of, but bringing the matter to the fore was nonetheless a very important endeavor. My sincere and fervent hope is that the mainstream media finally sees and accepts the error of their ways and takes steps to remediate their malfeasance.

I won’t, however, be holding my breath.

Take The Pro-Terrorist Rhetoric Seriously

In regard to several articles you have published recently about Zohran Mamdani, who has refused to condemn the phrase “Globalize the Intifada”: Ever since the massacres of October 7, 2023, Hamas-sympathizing radicals have regularly chanted “Globalize the Intifada” in protests that have taken over college campuses, blocked off city streets, disrupted traffic, and shut down access to airports. Now, radicals have turned those words into action.

In late May in Washington, D.C., a gunman opened fire near the Capital Jewish Museum as attendees were leaving an American Jewish Committee event for young diplomats. The gunman, who chanted “Free, free Palestine” when taken into custody, killed a young couple who were about to get engaged: 30-year-old Yaron Lischinsky, an Israeli Christian who served as a research assistant at the Israeli Embassy, and Sarah Milgrim, a 26-year-old Jewish Kansan who organized missions and delegation visits for the embassy. Less than two weeks later, a man shouting “Free Palestine” and ranting about Zionist killers used Molotov cocktails on a crowd of people in Boulder, Colorado, injuring twelve. Those targeted were gathering as part of a weekly “Run for Their Lives” event calling for the return of the hostages that Hamas is still holding captive.

There must now be a concerted strategy to make sure that America remains a safe place for Jews to live and worship – a strategy that starts by listening to, and taking seriously, what the protesters have been saying all along.

To Defeat Mamdani, Only One Candidate Can Stay In Race

Re: the letter you printed last week, “Only Curtis Sliwa Can Save NYC,” by Rebecca Chesner:

The only way to defeat Mamdani in the upcoming mayoral race is for him to have only one opponent in the race. This means that Curtis and either Adams or Cuomo must drop out.

I’m a lifelong Republican and would not even consider voting for Curtis in this race. Although he and his Guardian Angels have tried very hard to keep NYC safe, and I like him personally, he has virtually zero chance of winning. By remaining in the race, he could be a spoiler and get Mamdani elected by taking away votes away from candidates who have a real chance at winning. Correctly or not, Curtis is viewed as a joke candidate by many voters, and a good number of Democrats will not vote for a Republican in uber-blue NYC. Further, Curtis’s political experience pales in comparison to that of Adams and Cuomo.

As Cuomo has suggested, only the candidate with the highest polling numbers in September should remain in the race. Thus far, neither Adams nor Curtis has agreed to this.

Mamdani is no doubt very happy that NYC voters are making it so easy for him to effortlessly win by splitting his opposing votes.

Wise up, NYC voters, before it’s too late.
