I was planning to write another urgent op-ed this week, for The Jewish Press, similar to statements I recently made, respectfully urging President Trump to send B-2 bombers with GBU-57 bunker busters to strike the deep-underground Fordow nuclear site.
I had planned to again explain that this would be the ideal time for the U.S. to strike – now that Israel’s awe-inspiring efforts had cleared the Iranian regime’s air defenses, and because of the frightening imminence of Iranian nuclear weapons; Iran’s large stockpile of near-weapons grade uranium – sufficient for nine or more nuclear bombs; the UN’s International Atomic Energy Agency’s almost-unanimous resolution on June 12 declaring Iran to be in breach of its nuclear non-proliferation obligations; Iran’s defiant announcement in response that it would create yet another new uranium enrichment facility; Iran’s plan to rapidly produce 8,000 ballistic missiles; and Iran’s 46 years of deadly warfare against the U.S. citizens and officials.
But on Motzei Shabbat, before I could sit down to compose it, I discovered that no urging was needed. President Trump had courageously ordered, and the American military had brilliantly carried out an extraordinary precision strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan. The B-2s and America’s brave pilots were already on their way home to Whiteman Airforce Base in Missouri.
My organization, the Zionist Organizatin of America, immediately issued a press release profusely thanking President Trump, the American military and the IDF, for making the Israel and the entire region safer, and for keeping the President’s promise to “Make America Safe Again” – Job #1 of every U.S. president.
But, unfortunately, far left Israel-haters and far right isolationists responded to President Trump’s and the military’s magnificent feat far differently – even calling for the president’s impeachment for fulfilling his duty to keep the American people safe.
These extremists at both ends of the spectrum ignore that the Iranian regime has been attacking Americans for close to half a century.
As Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei declared in November 2023, the “chant ‘Death to America!’ it is not just a slogan – it is a policy.”
The American far left and isolationist extremists need to remember that Iranian Islamists invaded the U.S. embassy in Teheran in 1979, and held, blindfolded, played Russian roulette with and brutally tortured the American hostage that the Iranians seized in our embassy for 444 days.
Remember: Iran and its proxies murdered hundreds of Americans in suicide bombings at the Beirut embassy and barracks, the U.S. embassies in Tanzania and Kenya, Khobar Towers, and the U.S.S. Cole.
Remember: Iran and/or its proxies kidnapped and murdered Americans in Lebanon; hijacked airliners and killed American passengers; murdered countless Americans in terror attacks in Israel (which is home to 700,000 Americans); imprisoned innocent Americans in Iran’s notorious Evin Prison – some of whom, such as Robert Levinson, disappeared forever; and murdered and injured thousands of American soldiers with IEDs and shooting attacks in Iraq.
Remember: Iran’s proxy Hamas massacred at least 48 Americans and kidnapped at least 12 Americans on October 7, 2023. And remember the Iranian regime and its proxies’ piracy attacks, including attacking and seizing a (U.S.-associated) Marshall Islands-flagged oil tanker in international waters just last year.
Remember: Iran’s “hit list” of dozens of American officials (including the U.S. president), former officials and other American citizens (including this author) who Iranian agents are attempting to assassinate.
Remember: Iranian proxies launched drones or missiles at U.S. forces in Iraq and Syria in the days before the U.S. struck Iran’s nuclear site, and that afterwards Iran launched missile attacks on American bases in Qatar and Iraq.
We also must all remember, but unfortunately most Americans aren’t aware, that a U.S. federal court confirmed that Iran collaborated with Al Qaeda, and Iran had a major role in planning, funding, training pilots for and facilitating the terror attacks on 9/11.
With such a record of incessant anti-American terror, can anyone seriously doubt that Iran would use nuclear weapons to decimate American cities – and that nuclear weapons in the Iranian mullahs hands would be a mortal, existential danger to America?
Every American should be grateful to President Trump and the American military for acting to curtail this existential threat to America, Israel and the world.
