Sir Winston Churchill’s famous ‘end of the beginning’ quote accurately describes the possibility that the destruction of the deadly threat of Islamist fascism is at hand. This is primarily due to the willingness of the United States and Great Britain to forcibly remove the dictator of Baghdad, Saddam Hussein.
Moreover, the undaunted leadership of these two great nations to overtly attack and obliterate the malignancy in Iraq is truly heroic and noble. With other nations, most notably Australia, Spain, Italy, and those of Eastern Europe, the free world has shown a glimmer of Churchillian courage in the face of tyranny.
September 11, 2001 was the day that the devotees of Islamist fascism finally showed their true identity – as mass murderers. With the brutal death and destruction of that infamous day, the Islamists officially declared war on civilization and freedom. This was a formal extension of a war that had been ongoing for a thousand years, since the time of the Crusades. Following the Crusades, the nations of Europe began the dynamic march toward the Reformation and the Enlightenment; conversely, the Islamist feudal lords continued their medieval efforts at world conquest.
As their vision of Islamist zealotry and oppression was spread by brute force, the peoples of the West moved in the opposite direction – toward the virtues of individual liberty and personal moral responsibility. The results were nothing less than astounding. America, Great Britain and Western Europe elevated the quality of human life exponentially while the situation of those oppressed by Islamist fascism was that of abject misery.
Although the nations of the West had massive social demons to exorcise costing oceans of blood (i.e. the Inquisition, abusive colonialism, slavery, communism, Nazism and overt European anti-Semitism), those under the fist of medieval Islam remained in the stone age and were subjugated under the yoke unspeakable tyranny.
With the defeat of Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan in World War II, the Western world, and America specifically, became the protector of freedom in earnest. The desire to promulgate the great precepts of justice, equality, and the right to private property and individual liberty was overwhelming. After all, those principles provided the moral basis for the courage required to destroy Hitler and Tojo.
Unfortunately, communist Russia and China could not grasp the wisdom of rejecting Marxist imperialism. This resulted in the Cold War and played an integral part in enabling Islamist fascism to spread. The communists believed that communism would overwhelm Islamism, but – unable to recognize the sheer despotic fanaticism of Islamist fascism, they failed to convert the Islamists to their cause.
Marxist Russia has been defeated. Maoist China is evolving. Sadly, Islamist fascism is filling the resulting power vacuum in many regions that were previously influenced by communism.
Alarmingly, however, the societies of France, Germany and rump western Europe have descended into the lethal philosophical fog of moral relativism and nihilistic multi-culturalism. This social pathology has led to the denial of ethical principle and common sense. It has shaped a citizenry obsessed by suicidal pacifism, cynical hubris and cowardly naivete. As a result, Western Europe is being overrun by Islamist fascism and is in very real danger of becoming an Islamist region.
With the defeat of the Taliban in Afghanistan, many of the Islamist fascists responsible for 9/11 were eliminated. Because of the decimation of al Qaeda, many more are hiding in their holes. Bin Laden is cowering and will be killed or captured. The victory over Hussein and his dictatorship will, hopefully, be the beginning of the unraveling of the thousand-year effort by the Islamist fascists to enslave all who come under their sway.
We cannot become complacent. If we do, the victims of September 11 and all the other acts of Islamist terrorism will cry out to us from their graves. Moreover, future Islamist terrorist attacks will be relentless and make 9/11 look like child’s play. The devotees of Islamist fascism will be emboldened, and they will increase their malevolent efforts to usher in an age of universal serfdom, torture and tyranny. For the sake of freedom and posterity we must
remain committed to the total destruction of Islamist fascism.
