An electric cord from some appliance was stretched across his neck. Shimon rushed over and saw that David appeared to be conscious but as he rarely spoke in any case, it was difficult to ascertain if he was hurt or not. He tried to move the cord to release any painful pressure but as he was unable to do so he unplugged it and let it hang loose. He knew that moving David could do more damage and he was afraid that if he removed the mattress David would fall back and hurt himself so he called Hatzalah and ran to get a lady neighbour who was always there to help any of her neighbors in need. When she spoke to the person on the switchboard Shimon to his amazement heard her tell them that David was 100 years old.

As David was gently put on the stretcher and taken off to hospital to be checked over, Shimon couldn’t help but ponder on the siyata di’shmya which had led his car to overheat and delay his pick-ups by a day and thus be there when David needed him. Who knows when his next visitor may have arrived?
