The president also deliberately misinterpreted Netanyahu’s election day warning about Arab Israeli voters going to the polls “in droves.” The remark, which was well understood by the vast majority of Israelis, was intended to prod all the rest of the usually complacent eligible voters out of their chairs and into the voting booths – which it did. A record-breaking 72 percent of eligible voters made it to the polls to cast their ballots in Israel’s national election last Tuesday.

The results placed the newly-merged Arab List as the third largest political party in Israel, and returned Netanyahu to his post for an historic fourth term as prime minister in a landslide victory that appeared to outrage President Obama and his White House team.
