Why argue when you can just present the facts?
The Social Security and Defense Ministry recently publicized statistics on the number of civilians murdered in terror attacks since Israel was established. Here are the numbers:
Since 1948, 3,134 civilians (not soldiers) have been murdered in terror attacks. The total number of terror fatalities from 1947 (just before the establishment of the State of Israel) to 1993 – the year the Oslo Accords were signed – is 578.
A quick calculation shows that despite the obvious improvement in Israel’s internal security since Operation Defensive Shield in 2002, more than four times the number of Israelis have been killed in the 24 years since Oslo than in the 46 years before Oslo.
Before Oslo, 12.5 citizens were murdered by terrorists annually. Since Oslo, the yearly average is 106 citizens murdered. That means 8.475 times more civilians murdered annually since Oslo.
These numbers come from official government data. Nearly eight and a half times more terror victims annually. That is what we have gotten from Oslo to date. This is not a political opinion. It is simply the cold, hard facts. Please remember these facts the next time somebody tells you Oslo has been a success.
