Rabbis who had already traveled to Israel, or booked unrefundable tickets, responded angrily to this last minute cancellation. Leading dayanim and rabbis in Israel said they were deeply ashamed.

On behalf of Jewish women around the world who are being denied a get by their husbands, I am disappointed and disgusted, but determined that this conference will take place. If the Israeli rabbinical courts are too afraid to host a meeting of Orthodox rabbis wishing to discuss solutions for agunot, we will find another forum.

We will not abandon those women who have been left in limbo. We will continue to pursue justice for women in the religious divorce process, and we will never give up.
