The Highlandtown neighborhood in Baltimore city is directly in the path of violent rioters.

As day began to fade into evening, television cameras flashed shots of various vehicles subsumed in flames, including automobiles, train cars and police cars. Although police had alerted stores and malls to close by 1 pm, mobs converged on a closed CVS store in a downtown neighborhood, hurling bricks and other projectiles at the locks on the door. Eventually the mob succeeded and within minutes, dozens of looters were carrying goods out of the store. Shortly after, black smoke poured from the store that was set aflame.

By 6 pm Monday evening, at least four police vehicles had been damaged, including one that was totally destroyed.
