JERUSALEM, November 13, 2012—Likud Anglos Executive-Director and candidate for the Likud’s list Daniel Tauber called upon English-speaking members of Jewish Home to vote for Jeremy Gimpel, the “Anglo” candidate in today’s primary for the Jewish Home Party.

“We may be in different parties, but Jeremy Gimpel represents the English-speaking community in Israel and represents the selflessness and Zionism of the community in the political sphere,” Tauber said. “All Anglos who are members of the Jewish Home should make sure they turn up at the polling station and support Jeremy.”

Tauber said that sometimes “Anglo olim tend to believe that it is not their place to be too involved in Israeli politics, as if they are not sufficiently Israeli.”

However, he believed, that “as Jews, they have every right to have a say in the affairs of the State of Israel and their moral and political judgment is no less valid than anyone else’s. In fact, given the hardships that many must overcome so as to be able to live in Israel, their views are even more valuable.”

In an op-ed for the Jewish Press today, Tauber explained that as he was active in the Likud, he was initially was skeptical of Gimpel’s campaign in the Jewish Home, but came to respect it, and hopes Gimpel gets a realistic spot on the Jewish Home list.
