Therefore on the first night of Sukkos one has an obligation min haTorah to be b’simchah; not via korbanos but with other items that bring simchah. Each person should use the item that brings him or her simchah. It is for this reason that an aveil may not practice aveilus even on the first night of Sukkos, as there is indeed a mitzvah min haTorah of simchah at that time.
