Palestine, a Roman designation, once referred to the ancient region which today encompasses the State of Israel, the Kingdom of Jordan and the Palestinian Authority. It was the Arab nations who rejected the option of a "two state solution" in 1947 when they turned down the partition plan that was accepted by the Jews, and instead declared war upon the newly reborn State of Israel in 1948. Attempts by PA Arabs to remake this region in their image are destined to fail.
