El Al plane touches down at Ben Gurion Airport runway.

El Al Flight #363 was en route to Vienna from Tel Aviv on Tuesday afternoon when the pilot was forced to divert the flight to Lanarca Airport in Cyprus, due to the smell of smoke within the aircraft.

Firefighters were waiting for the plane on the tarmac in Cyprus, and assisted the passengers in disembarking from the aircraft.

“El Al Flight 363 was diverted to a sub field in Lanarca due to a report of a burning smell in the passenger compartment,” the airline said in a statement.

“The plane landed safely without damage and the passengers are treated by the El Al station there.”

No casualties were reported.
