South Florida teen stabbed in high school gym.

A South Florida high school was in lockdown Thursday morning, April 16, after a student at Piper High School was stabbed in the chest. The attack occurred in the school gym, according to a local television news station, WPLG 10.

A Piper student was arrested in connection with the stabbing. He is in custody.

Sunrise is in South Florida, near Fort Lauderdale.

The injured student was removed by ambulance. He was conscious when he was removed from the scene and taken to Broward General Medical Center. The injuries did not appear to be life threatening.
