Amazon has signed an exclusive deal with the state-owned Israel Postal Company, assigning the state postal service the job of delivering its packages.

The agreement pertains both to packages being shipped to Israel from out of the country, and those being shipping within Israel from local vendors as soon as Amazon Israel goes live – which it’s expected to do before the start of the Jewish New Year.

According to the Globes business news site, and CTech, Amazon does not intend to open local logistical warehouses in Israel.

Instead, the e-commerce giant will ship from logistical centers outside the country and also use drop-shipping service via its platform for local vendors.

The Israel Postal Service declined to confirm the report, saying it does not comment on business matters.
