A Hamas terrorist incarcerated at Israel’s Nafha Prison stabbed a prison guard commander in the face on Monday at the high security facility located north of Mitzpe Ramon in southern Israel, according to Israel’s Hebrew-language Channel N12 News.

The terrorist, Jabalya resident Yusef al-Mabhouh of Gaza, was identified as the stabber.

The victim, Sergeant Eli Adimov is said to be in good condition. He was treated at the prison’s medical clinic and then taken to Soroka Medical Center in Be’er Sheva out of an abundance of caution.

The Palestinian Prisoners’ Office issued a statement saying the attack was “a natural response to the abuse of Palestinian prisoners,” Channel N12 reported.

The wing in which the incident took place is under control, the prison said.
