Thousands of IDF reservists received emergency draft call ups (Tzav 8) at 6:30 AM on Israel’s Independence Day due to a technical malfunction in the IDF call up system.

The message told the reservists that an emergency draft had been activated, and they were to report to their designated meeting points, with their protective kits and army equipment.

Thinking there was a war, civilians got their army gear together, some began driving to their designated emergency meeting points, and others tried to contact the emergency number – which wasn’t answering.

A short time later, the IDF sent out a cancellation message, stating the previous alert was incorrect.

The IDF is investigating how the technical malfunction occurred.
