Israeli Air Force aerial defense systems intercepted a hypersonic ballistic missile fired at central Israel by the Houthi terrorist organization in Yemen.

The attack took place late Monday afternoon, barely two hours before the start of the holiday of Shavuot during which Jews mark the giving of the Torah on Mt. Sinai.

Red Alert sirens activated in communities from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, north to Herzliya and into Samaria, south to Rehovot, Kiryat Arba, Hebron and the Hebron Hills, as well as the Lowlands – including Kfar Chabad – the Judean Hills and Yarkon.

According to the Magen David Adom emergency medical response organization, no calls for help were received at the 101 emergency dispatch center.

Amidst preparations for the holiday, Israelis across the country are also making sure to leave a light on in their bomb shelters, in case they should be needed.
