The Israeli Air Force launched another strike on the airport in Sana’a, Yemen’s capital, early Wednesday morning. According to reports from Yemen, the site was hit multiple times.

Defense Minister Israel Katz confirmed the operation, stating that Israeli forces targeted Houthi positions at the Sana’a airport and destroyed what he described as the group’s last operational aircraft.

“This is a clear message and a direct continuation of our established policy,” said Katz, who made the announcement ahead of any official IDF statement. “Anyone who fires at the State of Israel will pay a heavy price.”

Katz announced the name of the operation: “Golden Jewel,” which may or may not be a reference to the fact that Yemenite Jews were once known as excellent goldsmiths.

Katz added that Yemen’s ports would continue to suffer severe damage, and the Sana’a airport—as well as other strategic infrastructure used by the Houthi terrorist group and its backers—would face repeated attacks.

Shortly after Katz’s remarks, the IDF issued its own statement confirming the strike on the airport.

Earlier this month, the Houthis tweeted images of heavy machinery repairing the damage inflicted by an Israeli attack on the Sana’a airport, with the braggadocios caption, “Sana’a International Airport, after working hard to return it to operation again, is now 90% ready. While Ben Gurion Airport is still closed by order of Yemen”

Ouch.
