What is so krim and twisted about the logic of these members of the United Church of Canada and the US Presbyterian Church is that despite accepting the Old Testament and its declarations, they consider Israelis to be interlopers and trespassers. Yet, these North American churchgoers have no claim of ownership tothe land they have plopped themselves on, and feel no compunction to find out who the true owners are and hand back the keys to the property.
They would insist on following that timeless “rule” of “to the victor go the spoils,” and “winners are keepers and losers are weepers” – except, of course, when it comes to the State of Israel.
Right your own big wrong before you self-righteously and erroneously pressure other people to, especially when they have done no wrong. There is nothing more krim than a hypocrite. There is nothing more despicable than people who piously insist that you do as they say while they themselves do not.
I have no doubt that the ancestors of the Native North Americans would have relished being treated with the same rights, freedoms and opportunities that Moslems, Christian Palestinians, Arabs, and other non-Jews living in Israel are accorded. There are even Arab politicians in the Knesset – some of whom are openly vocal about their hatred for Jewish Israelis.
North American aborigines were not invited to join in governing the land –unlike the Arabs in Israel. Rather they were violently decimated and displaced from their ancestral lands and deliberately exposed to deadly diseases they had no immunity to. Their children, in turn were brutally removed from their family, community and culture and put into residential schools where they were forced to learn an alien language, religion and culture – and viciously abused physically and emotionally if they resisted. Tragically, many were horribly abused even if they complied. To date there is a disturbing rate of alcoholism and suicide among the young in the aboriginal communities in Canada.
The only way to explain this two-faced, totally illogical double standard – one for Jews/Israel and one for everyone else, including the current “occupiers” of North America – is a collective mental illness. Perhaps it is fueled by insane jealousy for a nation of super-achievers guided by ethics, compassion and a moral compass – as opposed to the methodology of their forefathers – mass murder, brutal aggression, deceit and lies (broken treaties and false promises).
Let us hope that the krim amongst us have a refuah shaleima so that we will see an end to the emotional and physical carnage their krimkeit has caused – both to individuals and entire communities – and we will all sleep better at night.
