So why don’t they do this with girls? Because there’s no point in giving your daughter the same name as your wife, seeing that, as soon as your daughter gets married, her last name is going to change anyway. Also, back in the day, women didn’t inherit money or land, so there was no point in passing on your name for tax purposes.
Not that it matters anyway if the planet’s dying.
