Sunday morning, Hamas officials pleaded with Israel for a two-hour “humanitarian” ceasefire. Israel agreed, and announced a lull in hostilities from 1:30 – 3:30 pm. Shortly before the end of the “ceasefire,” Red Cross officials asked Israel to extend the quiet period for an additional hour. Israel agreed.
