Between Barack & a Hard Place

Some men throughout history are used as patsies to do the bidding of evil men. Chamberlain is a good example of this and our modern day example is Barack Obama. Whether it is by design or pure naïve buffoonery, it is hard to tell, but whatever the motivation, it is clear that this man is being used to destroy Israel; the only Jewish State in the world.

And given that there is only One Jewish State in the world it is the right thing to do to support and assist in keeping it strong and safe. Within Israeli society, namely the intelligentsia, the government and the courts work against the State on a number of fronts as Dr. Martin Sherman states in his latest articles for the Jerusalem Post. This is a difficult dilemma and one that must be addressed. As well as the Public Relations issue whereby Israel did nothing to present their case to the world, and in fact went so far as to deny their claim to the land when they invited the Oslo debacle on board.

The Jews have come home to the land of their forefathers; Avraham, Itzak and Yaacov as stated in The Torah. Archaeology finds give evidence that their presence in this sacred land goes back millennia. The powers that be, namely the League of Nations, and later the United Nations, recognized the Jewish historical claim to the land and bestowed it back to them legally, via the San Remo Resolution in 1922. It would take until 1948 for the 2000 year old dream of the rebirthing of the Jewish Nation to finally come to fruition.

At the risk of being uninformed I believe we helped facilitate the creation of Israel as it is today after WW2. I understand the reasoning behind that decision which was solidified by Britain and the US. We wanted to help a displaced tortured people and the Biblical teachings continue to drive us. However we are propping up a centuries old Holy War between religions or tribes or both. We are playing God with this and have been for most of the 20th century. There is also the oil over in that part if the world which is an underlying nugget we want to control. I guess we will continue to try to control the uncontrollable all over the Moslem world. I would like any different view to consider on this issue.

  11. Man is not born good. He must become good – by learning that there is another beside him and a Creator above him.

Evil and unwarranted hatred are a reality that exists in our world. The human being has an infinite capacity for evil that, left unchecked, can destroy the world.

The Torah itself tells us that the “impulse of man’s heart is evil from his youth” (Gen 8:21). Man is not born good. He has to become good – by forging his character, by bending his baser instincts, by learning that there is another beside him and an Other above him.

The Holocaust shows what can become of human beings when they permit the beast within them to control them.

It teaches us that we must be alert to the existence of evil, both in others and in our own selves. Once we are aware of its reality, we can work to uproot it. The mitzvot of the Torah are designed to help the spiritual qualities within us dominate the beast within.

Further, we learn from this tragedy that to be silent in the face of evil is to acquiesce in it, encourage it, and help it grow strong. History teaches us that evil triumphs when good people remain silent. But when good people rise up against evil, evil will ultimately perish and the good will prevail

    International Holocaust Memorial Day 2014

    January 27, 2014, Auschwitz-Birkenau, Poland

This year, at the appointed day for this annual commemoration,

the largest ever delegation of 60 Knesset (Israeli Parliament)

members, led by Speaker Yuli Edelstein, will convene overseas

    — on the grounds of the iconic murder factory of World War II,

each accompanying a Holocaust survivor, for a historic gathering

on combating anti-Semitism. The symbolism could not be more

striking — a mere meters away from the gas chambers where

millions of Jews were once exterminated, will meet the

representatives of the Parliament of the Jewish State of Israel.

This year will also mark the 69th anniversary of the liberation

of this death camp by Soviet and Allied troops in 1945. The

Israeli delegation will include senior representatives of the IDF,

the Chief Rabbis, and delegates from student groups signifying

the living linking between past and future. Underscoring the

message that anti-Semitism is a global issue, elected officials

and Parliamentarians from around the world, including Europe,

and a bipartisan group of leaders from the U.S. Congress will attend.
