Here’s the epilogue:

Undeterred, on the last day of bein haz’manim, the boys set out once again. But this time they had learned from their previous experience. A few dads accompanied them, and fortunately most of the participants were able to squeeze into the cars the fathers drove. This time they arrived on schedule and had all the required equipment. Baruch Hashem, the weather cooperated and the boys spent many hours reveling in each other’s company as they climbed, swam and rappelled through this natural wonder. They later reported that their amazing adventure was a cross between an amusement park and a fantastic nature hike. Thankfully, the only casualty was my son’s wet cell phone, nothing that a bowl of raw rice couldn’t fix.

Best of all, they returned safely and in wonderful spirits. To a man, they had enjoyed a fabulous last hurrah before heading back to yeshiva, refreshed and invigorated to begin the new z’man.
