Televangelist Pat Robertson said Jews are too busy “polishing diamonds” to do weekend chores.

Conservative activist Rabbi Daniel Lapin appeared on the “700 Club” Monday with Robertson to discuss what makes Jews successful.

“What is it about Jewish people that make them prosper financially? You almost never find Jews tinkering with their cars on the weekends or mowing their lawns. That’s what Daniel Lapin says and there’s a very good reason for that, and it lies within the business secrets of the Bible,” Robertson said in introducing the rabbi.

Lapin was on the show to promote his book “Thou Shall Prosper,” which, according to his website, discusses “why Jews throughout the ages flourish economically,” and “how you can benefit from this Jewish wisdom.”

“When you correctly said in Jewish neighborhoods you do not find Jews lying under their cars on Sunday afternoons, no, I pay one of the best mechanics around to take care of my BMW, I’d be crazy to take my time doing it myself,” Lapin said during the interview. Robertson followed Lapin’s explanation with the crack that Jews were polishing diamonds instead of fixing their cars.

  1. He did not mean that statement badly! I watch 700 club and their is no other Christian show that promotes Christians are to help the Jews the way they do! Every week they have several segments on Jewish news and inventions . He meant God is really blessing the Jews! Which I might add he is!

  3. Lorraine Taylor, I’m not one to be easily offended and all, but I don’t see how this could have possibly been meant as something good. The myth that Jews are loaded with money and control money and don’t do hard work and just take advantage of others to get rich is so old and we’re sick of hearing it. I am Jewish and I clean my own home and take care of my family myself and cook our meals and do my own laundry and work and them find time to volunteer to help others. Enough is enough! I certainly don’t polish any diamonds.

  5. Yeah, except somewhere along the line someone forgot to send me my secret Jewish decoder ring. So instead of polishing diamonds, silly me, I’ve been working hard and paying my taxes. So if any of the Elders of Zion happen to read this, could you slip one in the mail for me? Then maybe I can get in on some of those cool conspiracies and super Jew powers we’re supposed to have, at least according to the Arab press and folks like Mel Gibson.

  7. Tacky. Tacky. Tacky. Jews were not allowed to do many other professional jobs in years past. Handling money was considered “too dirty” for many people, so the “dirty Jews” were allowed to. Thus, they developed the skills to manage money. It backfired on us squeaky-clean gentiles, didn’t it? Shame on him! And Robert, he misinterprets the Gentile Bible, too.

  9. Lorraine!!! I am from Kiev, Ukraine which means: I am an old expert on anti-Semitism! He did mean badly! He did mean to humiliate and diminish us! But he did not achieved his goal – that is why we are not “hating” – we are just joking and laughing! But I agree with you: Hashem the Almighty does bless the Jews. One of our blessing: our enemies are fools.:)

  10. They consider us Goyim. My Grandmother was Jewish. My Grandfather was not. I am a believer in Yahshua…no labels..tags. after 40 years in wilderness…and other hardships..they still dont get it. Chosen only…as the vehicle to bring forth the Messiah..Yashua

  11. So funny how people put all jews in one bag, dont have even one familiar Or close friend That. Is a jew And helloooo there aré a lot of poor people unfortunately in our comunities thats why we have The commandment of Tzedaka, giving money And helping The poor, but in one way Its true we aré busy with our diamonds That aré our children families And The Tora mitzvos…

  12. Pat Robertson is just another greedy television figure using religion to make himself a fortune. The jews rejected God’s Son that fulfilled the prophecy of the Old Testament. The jews in Israel are a strong determined people that I admire, however they are no longer God’s chosen, except in the fact they are free to accept Christ like all the people of the world.

  13. Lorraine is a prime example of the type of person who does watch the old fool and his prattling ignorance. He appeals to a segment that want to believe that someone is a biblical and political savant who can reassure them everything is going to be fine according to their belief set. He is vile and greedy.

  14. God does not change his eternal covenant made with the Jews. “Chosen” to give Scriptures to the world, and that the Messiah would come through as the Lion of the Tribe of Judah. So says God, still chosen in that sense. Nor is the Church the ‘New Israel’. Israel is the physical land of Israel given to the Jews. If the Jews did not reject Jesus, then his teachings would not have spread to the Gentiles. Further, Jesus said that as it is done to his brethren and those one considers their least, it is done to Him.

  15. I dislike the many of the off the cuff and stupid remarks he has said over the years. Please know that there are many Christians who deeply and dearly love the Jewish people. They are to be blessed and are a blessing!!! Please know they will NEVER stop being God’s beloved chosen people. Any Christian who deny’s this has been led astray to being taught and believing wrong doctrine! Shame on them!!! No where in the Bible does it EVER say God turns his back on his people. Bless Israel forever!!

  16. pat roberson needs to be pulled off of the 700 club . shame on you pat. everyone knows the Jewish people are God choosing one. if you know your bible like you proclaim. you would know this . how dare you speak evil towards them. you are nothing but a false prophet in sheep clothing, God warned the people about . so

  17. He really has no room to talk. He’s in no way poor. This is terrible. Jews regardless of their financial status have been persecuted and always thought of as a lesser person for decades. SMH He should be ashamed of himself! Peace be unto Jerusalem! …and no, I’m not Jewish, a simple Christian in support of Israel!

  18. Offense, offensive, offended, everyone has become so sensitive. Pat is a good man and has done much to bring to light where our christian roots come from and also has defended our Jewish brethren, and financially supported Israel and her people. He is not senile. He is not rude. He is not arrogant. He who is without sin, throw your stones. I have read all these comments, and seems like all of you have never said anything out of line with your character. Must be great to be so perfect. As for me, I choose to look at Pat’s 50 year service to the poor, the hurting, the homeless, and most of all, his true love for Israel and our jewish brothers and sisters. So my perfect brothers and sisters throw your stones. Go ahead and be the Judge. You all deserve the honor, for being so perfect and without sin. By the way, what was Rabbi Lapin’s comment back to Pat? I didn’t see it in this article. Hmmm…..Shalom

  19. It is people like Robertson who encourage anti-semetism and stereotypes of Jews. It is a Sad State of Affairs when people Long on Charisma and Short on Education and Intelligence gain the Ear of an unwitting Public.

  20. Lol…well I am a born Jew who converted to Christianity as a kid and am in ministry now.Pat is in his 80s now and I watch the 700 club. He just sometimes says some off the wall things. I wouldn’t take it too seriously. He loves Israel, the people and is good friends with Benjamin Netanyahu. So I think it was just a misguided attempt of trying to be funny. His co-host…God bless her…is continually riding shotgun for him on the show…cleaning up what he says and politely trying to muzzle him…lol.

  21. Pat Robertson is a horses ass. I had a run in with him personally 20 yrs ago. When he found out I was Jewish, he started condemning me saying that I and the Jewish people were going to hell if we maintained our Jewish faith and not convert to Christianity. He quoted a verse from John 8 stating Jesus condemned the Jewish people calling them the sons of Satan. He got angry when I quoted from his own Bible Matthew 7:1-2. That was one time I wanted to punch him in the mouth, but showed great restraint. I have absolutely no problem with Christianity, in fact most of my friends are Christian and I will defend their right to be Christian with my life if necessary, I swore an oath to protect and defend their right to worship G-d in their own way… Robertson is very antisemitic, he is always taking cheap shots at the Jewish people…

  22. Pat Robertson is the same man that said Haiti was rocked by an earthquake for worshipping satan. When he makes generalizations like these, he's showing a lack of understanding for the individual and whole groups of them. And I've see the 700 Club and the parade of diamond-studded peacocks that beg the poor for money on TBN – it's disgusting. These men are nothing more than servants of the I – the trinity of the me, myself, and I. And he says Jews are too busy polishing diamonds? Let's go through his financials and the financials of organizations like his – let's see who's really polishing the diamonds.
