Wow, over the past year we’ve traveled around the entire United States. The rabbis listed on this page have given us incredible divrei Torah and introduced us to their beautiful communities. It’s so exciting to know that we can go to any part of our great country and find people waiting for us with open arms. Please don’t hesitate to call them, as they would be honored for you to be a guest in their community.

Which brings us to this week’s dvar Torah.

Ki yesh shever b’Mitzrayim (42:1) – when famine struck in Eretz Yisrael, Yaakov sent the shevatim down to Mitzrayim where he heard there was food. Rashi reads the word “shever” as “sayver” which means hope. It has been said in the name of R’ Mordechai Rosen zt”l that “shever” can also be read “she’bar” which is another word for son. Yaakov Avinu saw that there was a son in Mitzrayim and, hoping that he would greet the shevatim warmly, he sent them to get food.
