Knife found during search

Israeli security personnel arrested a Palestinian Authority woman from the Ramallah area on Sunday at the Qalandiya crossing who tried to sneak a knife through the checkpoint.

The weapon was discovered during the routine search and inspection carried out by Border Guard Police. The knife was found in the woman’s bag.

The wannabe terrorist was taken to a precinct for questioning.

A second Arab woman who arrived at the same crossing later in the day from Shechem likewise was arrested under similar circumstances. The second suspect tried to pass through the checkpoint via the vehicular lane, but didn’t stop when an Israeli security guard called out to her. When she didn’t respond, he fired a warning shot in the air — which got her attention instead.

She, too, was taken for questioning to a local precinct.
