At least eight Hamas terrorists were eliminated by Israeli military forces on Tuesday evening during an attempt to infiltrate Israeli territory by sea and carry out attacks.
An infiltration alert was activated in the communities of Karmiya and Zikim at around 7:30 pm, warning residents to enter their homes and lock doors and windows, due to concerns more terrorists might still be present.
Heavy gunfire was reported between Israeli security forces and the infiltrating terrorists.
“Israel Navy forces struck a number of Hamas divers at sea who were attempting to infiltrate into Israel near Zikim,” the IDF spokesperson said.
In addition to the actions of Israel Navy personnel, an Israeli helicopter gunship struck the compound where the terrorists originated, the IDF said.
Hamas navy commandos were participants in the October 7 invasion of Jewish communities and IDF bases in southern Israel, and have continued in their attempts to infiltrate Israeli territory to continue their attacks.
