The attack came five days after Israel began issuing warnings for Yemeni citizens to evacuate the Hodeidah, Ras Issa and Al-Salif ports. Fifteen fighter jets dropped mor than 30 bombs on Houthi targets.
It was the eighth Israeli attack on Houthi targets in less than a year.
“If the Houthis continue to fire missiles at the State of Israel, they will be severely damaged, and the leaders will also be damaged – just as we did to [Mohammed] Deif and the Sinwars (Yahya and Mohammad) in Gaza, to [Hassan] Nasrallah in Beirut, and to [Ismail] Haniyeh in Tehran – so we will also do to Abdel Malek al-Houthi in Yemen,” Defense Minister Israel Katz said in a joint statement with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The IDF is continuing to issue evacuation warnings Yemeni citizens around the ports “in light of the Houthi terrorist regime’s use of these ports for terrorist activity,” the IDF said in a statement Friday night.
“The IDF is determined to continue to operate against threats posed to Israeli civilians, at any distance required.”
The ports of Hodeidah and Al-Salif are both being used to transfer weapons to support the Iranian proxy’s attacks against Israel.
“Any hostile activity in these ports will continue to be prevented,” the IDF underscored.
Over the past year and a half, the Houthi terrorist regime has been operating under Iranian direction and funding to attack the State of Israel and its allies. The attacks have undermined regional stability while disrupting global navigation.
