In the face of Darrow’s daunting arguments, Bryan looked foolish when he was unwilling to concede the need for extra-biblical interpretation. Rabbi Herman Rosenwasser also played an important part in the trial by providing Darrow with an argument that the Hebrew text of Genesis, properly translated, supports the evolutionary narrative.
