The Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) has turned for help to the public, in an attempt to solve a mystery: what was the purpose of the gold-plated object, weighing close to 19 pounds, discovered in an old building in one of the cemeteries in Jerusalem?

A few months ago, a maintenance worker at a Jerusalem cemetery discovered a suspicious object, concealed in an ancient structure on the grounds. The worker alerted police sappers who carried out a controlled explosion in the place, revealing a gold object. The object was taken to be examined by the Antiquities Authority inspectors, but those educated archaeologists eventually admitted that they had never encountered such an object.

It was taken for metals testing, and a series of additional inspections by experts to try to understand how it was used. Now the authority is asking the public to help it find out how and why the object ended up at the bottom the old structure in the cemetery, and what it was used for.

Update: Online users solved the mystery in under half a day, pointing to a product being sold online as “Weber-Isis-Chakra-Harmonizer (gilded).” The shape of the lsis Chakra Harmonizer is based on the insights of Sacred Geometry and consists in a double djed pillar with 8 grooves.
