The outspoken and funny Jewish comedienne Joan Rivers z”l, born Joan Alexandra Molinsky in 1933, died on Thursday.

Rivers had gone in for throat surgery on August 28, and suffered a heart attack while on the table. The doctors put her into a medically induced coma.

In July, Rivers was one of the lone voices in the entertainment industry, along with Howard Stern, that dared speak out in Israel’s defense when Hamas was attacking the country. If she did nothing else, for that alone she deserves all our respect.

May her memory be blessed.
