Three and possibly four Israelis were killed and a dozen others were injured in the Himalayas avalanche disaster in Nepal.

But Israel is Israel and the People of Israel are the People of Israel, at each other’s throats over the most mundane matters but united in crises, whether it be the Six-Day War in 1967;

or the national prayers for Nachson Wachsman, the soldier who was kidnapped and then killed by terrorists when the IDF tried to rescue him;

or the wall-to-wall empathy and prayers for the families of the three kidnapped teenagers who later were discovered to have been killed by terrorists;

or by other events, such as an avalanche in Nepal, which would be just a passing news item in other countries.

Thank you VISA for a heartwarming moment, but that doesn’t mean I won’t damn you guys again when you try to gouge me for  a few shekels for another credit card.

Only in Israel.
