Minister Uzi Landau (Yisrael Beiteinu) announced this evening that he is quitting politics.

Landau wrote in his resignation letter that he will continue to serve Israel, but outside the parliament.

He thanked Avigdor Liberman for the years of working together, and added that he will help with the elections.

For months, the rumor mill has said that Liberman would be removing Uzi Landau and Yair Shamir from the Yisrael Beiteinu Knesset list. Landau’s letter indicates the decision was Landau’s.

Landau entered the Knesset in 1984 with the Likud. He resigned in 2004 as a Minister in objection to Sharon’s Disengagement plan. In 2008 he joined Yisrael Beiteinu.
