Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has officially confirmed the recent assassination of Gaza’s Hamas chief Muhammad Sinwar in Gaza.

Sinwar, who served as chief of Hamas’ military wing and was involved in planning terror operations and tunnels, succeeded his assassinated older brother Yahya Sinwar as head of the terrorist organization. Previously he had succeeded Mohammed Deif as chief of the group’s ‘Al Qassam’ military wing.

Netanyahu made the announcement Wednesday during remarks at the Knesset.

“We have eliminated Mohammed Deif, Yahya Sinwar, and Muhammad Sinwar,” he said.

The IDF carried out a massive “belt of fire” operation earlier this month (May 4), using “bunker buster” bombs to penetrate and destroy a tunnel in Khan Younis in which Sinwar and a council of senior Hamas terrorists were meeting.

Hamas operatives reportedly recovered the bodies – including that of Sinwar – and quietly buried them a few days after the strike.

The group has yet to officially announce Sinwar’s death.
