The Israeli military establishment has informed the heads of Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria their protection is about to be cut due to budgetary restraints.

Kiryat Arba – next door to Hebron in Judea – as well as Elon Moreh, Kfar Adumim, Kedar, Alon and Eli, all will see a reduction in the number of security posts according to letters that were sent to the community directors on Tuesday.

Pay raises for civilian security guards were necessary in order to recruit and retain new personnel, even though the Defense Ministry did not provide a corresponding raise in funds to cover the expense. As a result, eight security outposts were eliminated, effective August 2019.

One of the security posts is located in an area of Kiryat Arba where 13-year-old Hallel Yaffe Ariel was murdered by a Palestinian Authority Arab terrorist just three years ago.
