It took less than an hour for Israeli Defense Forces to retaliate Wednesday night against the Syrian military position that fired a mortar shell at Israel’s northern Golan Heights.

“In response to the errant projectile launched earlier today towards Israel from Syria, the IDF targeted the Syrian military position that fired the mortar,” said a brief statement issued by the IDF Spokesperson.

No injuries and no property damage were reported in the attack, the fourth such incident in less than a week.

By Monday, military leaders had already closed parts of the northern Golan Heights due to the “spillover” attacks that were reaching across Israel’s border.

Israeli farmers were being allowed to work their fields in the northern districts, but were warned not to approach the border area.
